These images are part of a photographic documentary entitled Heart of the City designed to benefit FDNY's Engine 24 Ladder 5 Family Relief Fund and Austin Firefighters' Relief and Outreach Fund.

It is comprised of photographs taken by Hannah Neal at Ground Zero and surrounding areas of Manhattan three weeks after the World Trade Center fell (with the exception of the final image, South Ferry, which was taken in 1983). The exhibit opened in Austin, Texas, and was on display from January 5 through January 25, 2002 at One Congress Plaza, and January 28 through March 1, 2002 at San Jacinto Center.

Through art sales and donations, Heart of the City has helped raise thousands of dollars in support of relief funds for the benefit of firefighters and their families.
